To better understand the implications of Project 2025 it is important to understand the context under which it was created. The following abstract has been taken – verbatim – from the Project 2025 page on Wikipedia.
Project 2025, also known as the 2025 Presidential Transition Project, is a political initiative published by the Heritage Foundation that aims to promote conservative and right-wing policies to reshape the United States federal government and consolidate executive power if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election. The Project asserts a controversial interpretation of the unitary executive theory, according to which the entire executive branch is under the complete control of the president. It proposes reclassifying tens of thousands of federal civil service workers as political appointees in order to replace them with people loyal to the president. Proponents of the project argue it would dismantle what they view as a vast, unaccountable, and mostly liberal government bureaucracy. The project also seeks to infuse the government and society with conservative Christian values.
Project 2025 - as the abstract implies – is an effort to establish a Far‑Right Conservative White Christian Totalitarian Regime in the United States.
Some of the primary organizations behind Project 2025 are the Heritage Foundation, the Conservative Partnership Institute and the Council for National Policy. However, the objectives of these organizations are not new and go back in time with previous organizations such as the Ku Klux Klan, Neo Nazis, the Moral Majority, the Tea Party and many, many other organizations, far too many to mention. The names have changed – the objectives have not:
Keep the power in the United States in the hands of White Conservative Christians and delegate all others to second rank citizens status with no power and no say in the governing of the country.
In the early 1970’s, the Far-Right Conservative White Christian movement saw an opportunity to “marry” itself with the Republican Party which was primarily driven by their opposition to racial equality and integration. Later, when being racist was no longer considered politically correct, abortion was substituted as the raison d’etre of the movement.
In the upcoming 2024 election, Donald Trump is the strawman for the powers behind Project 2025.
The January 6 insurrection was only a glimpse to what lengths these forces are willing to go to steal an election and grab power.
The Project 2025 document contains Five sections, which are listed below with a brief description of their contents.
SECTION 1: TAKING THE REINS OF GOVERNMENT
First and foremost, the executive branch of the government must be controlled and the first thing Project 2025 quotes is Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution:
The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.
Then the document uses that sentence to lay out their vision that the power of the President is absolute. This, of course, opens the door to total abuse of power, which is what Project 2025 advocates to achieve its goals.
Second, Project 2025 provides a blueprint to purge Federal Agencies of Tens of Thousands of Federal Employees and replace them with new hires who abide by the principles of Project 2025.
SECTION 2: THE COMMON DEFENSE
This section discusses a range of issues which include defense and security related issues, concentrating on making sure that all defense departments are solely filled with adherents to the objectives of Project 2025.
Interestingly, this section also contains detailed blueprints on controlling the media and abolishing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which it considers a “Tyrannical Situation” because most of its audience are liberals. The fact that they also have a sizable conservative viewership and that the programming has been recognized as extremely educational clearly doesn’t appear to matter.
SECTION 3: THE GENERAL WELFARE
The document starts with referring to Article I, Section 8:
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
Then, Project 2025 continues attacking different Government Agencies.
The following are some fragments taken verbatim from the Project 2025 document:
- Department of Health and Human Services
The irrational, destructive, un-American mask and vaccine mandates that were imposed upon an ostensibly free people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Note –Project 2025 is unequivocally anti-abortion and strives for a national abortion ban.
- Department of Justice
“Politically motivated and viewpoint-based prosecutions” of political enemies and indifference to the crimes of political allies, has made the department “a threat to the Republic.”
- Department of Education
The department is a convenient one-stop shop for the woke education cartel, which—as the COVID era showed—is not particularly concerned with children’s education. Schools should be responsive to parents, rather than to leftist advocates intent on indoctrination—and the more the federal government is involved in education, the less responsive to parents the public schools will be. This department is an example of federal intrusion into a traditionally state and local realm. For the sake of American children, Congress should shutter it and return control of education to the states.
Note – Project 2025 advocates requiring teaching Christian values in all schools.
- Department of Labor
The department and related agencies should pursue pro-family, pro-worker policies to help “restore the family-supporting job as the centerpiece of the American economy,” in lieu of the current Administration’s “left-wing social-engineering agenda” - “the most assertive” in history - which empowers race, gender, and climate-change activists at the expense of American workers.
- Department of Energy
The Department of Energy should end the Biden Administration’s unprovoked war on fossil fuels, restore America’s energy independence, oppose eyesore windmills built at taxpayer expense, and respect the right of Americans to buy and drive cars of their own choosing.
Note – Project 2025 denies Global Warming and attacks any efforts to control it.
SECTION 4: THE ECONOMY
This section starts with the following two paragraphs:
The proper role of government, as was articulated nearly 250 years ago, is to secure our God-given, unalienable rights in order that we might enjoy the pursuit of happiness, the benefits of free enterprise, and the blessings of liberty.
Aggressive trade policies involve an increased government role that future leftist Administrations will utilize to push “climate change” and “equity”-based activism.
As can be expected, Project 2025 calls for a diminished government and oversight and proposes a reformed tax code:
Tax policy has a powerful impact on the economy. The Treasury Department should develop and promote tax reform legislation that will promote prosperity. To accomplish this, tax reform should improve incentives to work, save, and invest. This, in turn, is accomplished primarily by reducing marginal tax rates, reducing the cost of capital, and broadening the tax base to eliminate tax-induced economic distortions by eliminating special-interest tax credits, deductions, and exclusions. Tax compliance costs will decline precipitously if the tax system is substantially simplified. The Treasury Department should also promote tax competition rather than supporting an international tax cartel.
SECTION 5: INDEPENDENT REGULATORY AGENCIES
This final section addresses the way Project 2025 wants to control certain independent agencies, which are not directly under the control of the President. The general tone of this section is to reduce Government interference – some examples mentioned are:
Federal Communications Commission
“The FCC has an important role to play in addressing the threats to individual liberty posed by corporations that are abusing dominant positions in the market.” Nowhere is that clearer “than when it comes to Big Tech and its attempts to drive diverse political viewpoints from the digital town square.”
Federal Election Commission
Project 2025 doesn’t mention any fundamental changes to the FEC.
The reason for this is that elections are mostly controlled by the states and the FEC has little power over how individual states enact voter suppression.
Securities and Exchange Commission
Project 2025 calls for a reduced involvement of the SEC in market regulation.
Of course, the fact that the SEC was explicitly created after the excesses which created the Wall Street Crash of 1929 are conveniently overlooked.
Federal Trade Commission
Similarly, Project 2025 calls for a reduced role of the FTC as well.
Again, conveniently overlooking the reasons the FTC was created in the first place.
